General
Students are given a real-world business problem and, over the course of the program, develop a solution through guided lessons and guest speaker sessions. The program culminates in a final pitch competition, where participants present their ideas for the opportunity to receive awards and recognition.
YLA is open to all middle and high schoolers interested in business and entrepreneurship. No prior experience required!
Yes! YLA is completely free to participate in.
Each academy runs for 6 weeks, ending with a final business pitch.
No! You can join with or without an idea. We'll help you develop one during the program.
YLA is completely virtual, allowing all students to participate!
Absolutely! YLA gives students the opportunity to work in teams if desired.
College professors, entrepreneurs, and other business professionals!
Top placers will earn a YLA award, with prizes awarded to honorable mentions!
Both events (team and individual) will have around 1-3 winners each (depending on the competitor pool).
Weekly sessions with lessons on Monday evenings, and guest speaker sessions on Thursday evenings. Each session is ~30-45 minutes long.
Every year there are 4 academies: Winter (Jan - Feb), Spring (March - May), Summer (July - August), and Fall (September - October)
ALL participating students will receive a certificate for completion of an academy at YLA.
Yes!
ALL students will get back a detailed feedback form on their presentation, regardless if they win or not.
Most sessions recordings will be posted, however, there are attendance expectations which will need to be met.
Students have the choice to either compete in a team (3 students MAX) or individually. Both events will be judged separately.
